Teamwork is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results....
We all need to ensure this budget PASSES the First time out of the chute. Any other alternative is a place none of us want to visit.
Next year with more involvement from the community and C_P_R_ and an invigorated BOE....We can make the changes that we have been seeking....
Lets deal with this year NOW and Next Year increase the involvement and the changes will come.

Hey hold on here...first this topic is that of playing devil's advocate. So I'm playing devils advocate. So, people telling those that are upset about their absurd taxes to move is not something that should be said. Who the heck are these rightheous people to imply such a thing? I find that thought process disgusting. Some people want to treat others like that? I hope those that feel that way don't have any illegal rental apartments because that would make them lower than a roaches belly. Especially one's that are paying 5K in taxes or have their houses in a parents name to get an ill gotten seniors exemption. Hey, fair is fair right? If you can't afford to be here on your own two feet you shouldn't be here, right? Hypocrites!

Go,
You make some valid points, however, this is no time to be multi-tasking. We need to put OUR complete focus on the task at hand. Failure is not an option as the only ones happy in this community if that were to happen would be the realtors. Stay the course our key words are WE, OUR, US, UNITED, TEAM, and KIDS. With hard work and TEAM work WE will have a very memorable night on 5/16. I propose a goal of at least a 500 vote victory.
Lets put an end to this thread and start a new VOTE YES thread.
VOTE YES ON 5/16 for the BUDGET and CPR.

If you have something to say...Just say it.. I can only speak of what I would do if I were in that situation. If I couldn't afford the taxes I would move....Other people would react differently....Thats their perogative.

I'm insinuating nothing. I don't know what you pay and frankly I don't care. But I think there should be some more courtesy to our neighbors. How would you feel if someone said that to you? Think you might get a tad upset? Angry even? I don't know about you but a grand a month in taxes is a mortgage payment for most.

All, can we stop the bickering?
WE all pay too much tax, WE all pay too much for gas, WE all pay to much for car insurance for our kids, etc....
And even with all that.. WE WANT TO STILL LIVE HERE.
So let's put all this energy into 2 things:
1. The passing of the current proposed budget to protect the districts children and their future.
2. After we do that, We can all get out from behind these names and meet to discuss the future. Future budgets, state aid, contracts, etc...
A team is made up of individuals with different backgrounds and interests but with a COMMON GOAL !!!
we are the Plainedge COMMUNITY TEAM !!!!

I think some missed the point of this thread......
devĀ·il's advocate - n. One who argues against a cause or position, not as a committed opponent but to determine the validity of the cause or position.
As I said to Wild, the purpose was to stir contemplation and thought about our situation and the future - haste makes waste. Lets make sure we have learned from our costly mistakes of the past.
ok....everyone breathe......breathe.....breathe........out with the bad air, in with the good.

And ALL of our posts to you have been to put these topics on the back burner for now until the budget is passed. Because some will use your comments to rally against the budget.
We want people to focus for the next few weeks on the issue of ...PASSING THE BUDGET.

So, are you saying that no one is permitted to post something that may be a slightly different point of view from yours? Are they not permitted to post something that looks at a subject or situation from a different point of view?
Patriot, you didn't strike me as someone that would take that type of stance. If WE, as a community are confident in the work WE have done in getting the word out about this budget, then there should be no worries about what one person says.
That's the point of playing Devils Advocate.
Am I all for this budget - yes. Is multi-tasking (as someone mentioned) now important - yes. I'm concerned that people will rest on their laurels on May 17th after the budget is passed. They will think that the job is done. That's a major problem. There is too much that still needs changing.
Does the United States only focus its attention on the Middle East right now, because that's the hot topic? I don't think they're saying put the rest of the country's problems on hold until we solve the Iraq/Iran/Afghanistan, etc problems.

Absolutely not... everyone has the right to post what they think. But I wonder sometimes if the posts would be the same if a person had to sign their name to it !?
However, there are times when posting are proper and when they aren't. And the posting now until May 17th, should be focused on the community coming together, about ideas on getting the correct message out, getting the correct information out, getting people to register, getting people who do not vote to vote !
As for the US Govt, I think they have more resources then the 10 of us here !!!!!!

For what it is worth, here is my two cents. Last year, despite the best efforts put forth by not only myself, but others in the community the budget was defeated...twice. When that happened so much was lost in this community. We somehow became divided, and from where I am not sure, but an "us against them" theme was all the rage. Then came along the PPAC and hope and spirit were restored, and they pulled off what was believed to be an impossible task. Having hope, and drive, and ambitition is infectious. People want to be around people who succeed. People want to be associated with the "winning" team. This year we have more community members than ever willing to fight the good fight and get this budget passed...the first time. I am personally thrilled that three men (and you know who you are) from the PPAC have stuck around and are now part of the "YES" campaign. I think this goes to show, that if nothing else, these particular individuals are in it for the long haul. I know I am. This particular group has not rested on their laurels from last year. Despite our differences of opinion one common thread holds us all together...we love children, we love our community, we want to have a life here in Plainedge rich with academics, and culture, and athletics and all the things that make us feel good and proud to be a Plainedge resident. Hopefully more people will follow this lead. Visions now are not narrow...they span for the coming years not just a coming season. This positive type of attitude is infectious. I am confident that this year the drive, and passion and spirit of everyone will be infectious, and we will all want to say that we were part of the winning team. Yes, there needs to be some long term changes. Perhaps one or more of the five candidates currently running for the BOE will help facilitate those changes. There is strength in numbers...this year we have those numbers...let's use our resources and get the job done.

Complete Plainedge Renaissance Combines Patience and Resolution. Combative Posts Require too much negative energy. Creative Passion Removes Contrary Positions Related to budget passing. Certain P'town Residents Can Persuade Rinx to Curb Profuse Raillery, Counter Positions and Riposte Cue Positive Reactions. How about it Rinx? How about being an advocate for the kids? We have way too many Devils Advocates'.
