Wow, what a day
Budget - No surprise there
Capone/Cantatore - We were a winner no matter who won here. But I understand why she won....quite frankly (IMO) she made a better showing on MTC night
Raymond/Fox - Somewhat of a surprise. However, I understand why it went this way, especially after the MTC night
Lassman/Presuto - This is more of a surprise to me. After the closing remarks from Mr. Lassman from MTC night, I thought the voting would have been more one sided.

Well, now that the results are in and all the campaigning is over, let's hope this is the beginning of some changes and not just the usual political promises. After looking in the newspaper and realizing we are the only ones in Nassau to pass a double digit budget which is costly, I hope there will be some real action to curb the spending this year so that this doesn't become the norm for the future.

AMEN Honebee!
That was one of my concerns with this budget passing. Are we setting a precedent for the years to come?
By the way....anyone know who cleans up the campaign signs??

Interesting....... School Board Ralph Raymond 2,261 49% 85 VOTES Allan Fox 2,346 51%
School Board Steve Lassman-Unofficial 2,277 50% 2 VOTES Frank Presuto-Unofficial 2,279 50% Who can explain the purpose of those darn little papers that's handed to us with a number on them? I noticed when the envelopes they were being placed in were removed, they were carefully enclosed with tape?I? think and then placed in a bin or basket which was unattended. When I signed in, I began to walk away without the paper and the lady called out for me to take it. She remarked you 'must' have this or you will not get in to vote. As it drew close to 9, I overheard Rich-man saying that anyone on line seen without a paper had to be put out. Those darn little papers must have more value on them than I had realized. Input? BTW...as I stood holding a sign up for the CPR team, many people said they were voting CPR and a number thought the C stood for Capone, the BIG GUY! Others said they were told to vote the 'big guy in...Capone' The outcome surprised me based on how many said they were doing CPR. Now look at these numbers how close. Both Presuto & Raymond were part of what everyone said they were voting for yet the numbers don't add up? It seems if CPR was the one most were voting, then how come Cantatore/Capone weren't just as close? I think that indicates the confusion people were under. Doing the math on the end results is quite interesting. I would venture to say the number of people who didn't vote for the Library budget are the same ones who said the Library's money would go to the kids if it were closed, as rumored. The number is really small. The numbers in the voting don't add up just like the numbers in the budget don't add up.

By the way....anyone know who cleans up the campaign signs?? Technically, they are not supposed to be nailed, hung from or in any way attached to poles, wood or not. One could complain but why? We all put signs up. Garage sales, HOME sales and whatever other notices people want to put up. Signs in yards are, of course, by permission. The ones by the curb may be ok or still may be technically 'illegal' but then again, we all do it. As for who takes them down, the ones that put them up! Simple common sense. Now if the signs said NO to the budget the opponents would have done the duty of removing them rather than those putting them up. Notice, no one disturbs the signs that say yes. What does that say?

The same team that put up the signs were busy all day today taking them down.
And, just for the record, a large number of VOTE YES signs were either defaced or torn down over the course of the last few weeks.
Congrats to all the members of the VOTE YES campaign!

Kudos to them.
As much as I like the signs and thing they're important, I feared that they would be left like the political ones every November. Afterall this is OUR community and we need to keep it clean.

I don't know where those YES signs were 'torn down or defaced' as I saw the same ones up right through last night, securely attached with what looked like those very strong plastic zip ties similar to the ones used to hold together electronics or that the telephone repair people use that require major cutting tools. Some were nailed to fences. Some locations, biz, even told who asked them to put the signs on their property. Today, I actually saw some being taken down and the parties were struggling to get those plastic ties cut! In addition many more signs went up over the course of the weeks and remained. Funny, it had come to mind to take pictures of all those wonderfully made signs to be sure no one tampered with them. I guess I should have. If any were torn or defaced, it must have been in some remote, obscure location by some pranksters to make it look like others did it? It wouldn't be surprising with some of the tactics that go on in this district. One doesn't have to look too far to find manipulated info, like on the Budget Newsletter.

If you don't like the topic or subject, the simplest thing to do is NOT reply. Is it wrong for someone to inquire about who is taking down the signs?
Personally, I couldn't care less who's signs were "defaced". It's an action that is somewhat expected.

If you have been around the community, most of the large signs were taken down last night. 2 new Thank you ones were put up. the lawn signs are being taken up off public property. Residents lawn signs can be kept for next year.
I hope this settles the fears of some.....

Is the matter between Lassman and Presuto final? I would have thought winning by 2 votes could have led to an inquiry or something....just curious if anyone knows for sure.
