VERY INTERESTING FACT- THE NUMBER OF NO VOTES DID NOT CHANGE THAT MUCH. THIS YEAR-2044 LAST YEAR 1ST VOTE- 2013; 2ND VOTE- 2117. SO BY FOLLOWING THE LINE OF NOT PUTTING OUR EFFORTS INTO CHANGING THOSE MINDS BUT GETTING MORE PEOPLE OUT TO VOTE WE WERE DEAD ON. GREAT JOB PLAINEDGE. WE SHOULD BE PROUD OF THE TURNOUT AND EXPECT AND DEMAND THE SAME TURNOUT IN THE YEARS TO COME. PASSING THIS BUDGET IS BUT ONE STEP ON OUR JOURNEY HERE.

getitpassedVery interesting observation. One might also surmise that since there are 6,242 homes in the district and the population is about 25,000 that there is an average of 4 persons per home, of which about two are voting adults. That could mean a lot of things - like 2 adults in 1,000 homes vote NO - each home having two non-voting children. It could also mean, as shown by other demographics, that since 1/3rd the homes have children, that the 2080 homes having children, each having two adults in them, turned out 3337/4160 or 80% of their eligible voters to cast a YES vote. The remaining 4162 homes having more than two adults in them, turned out less than 25% of their eligible voters to cast a NO vote. I suspect we could find more assumptions by further diddling with the numbers. Whatever we find; the true distribution of voters - young, old, childless, many children, senior, renter, owner, mortgage, no mortgage, etc., will remain subject to speculation until a reliable survey is made. And keeping that reliable will be a tough job! Ed. We got the Budget - now let's get most of it to the Children! This year we O.K.'ed giving but 70ยข on the dollar to the children. What will we make it for next year?

What a shame SOME taxpayers were duped into thinking their taxes would only increase by $320 and the seniors by only $92. Everyone who thinks this should take a very careful look at their tax bill when it arrives. Don't say you weren't told! It WON'T be what's stated in the Budget Newsletter. As for being 'paid direct to taxpayer', Pataki vetoed that and maybe, that's a BIG maybe, it could change. The following comment is sad to read being that any prior comments NEVER mentioned what's implied here to have been said or written: Are you implying that the people who run the counting - Most of which are senior citizens like yourself) that they would allow wrong doings iduring an election I went back and re-read to be sure I hadn't missed something but found nothing of this nature. After reading for over a year the many posts by Ed , justfacts, I had the pleasure of finally meeting him last night in the gym as I stood waiting for the final results. If it were not for him, we would not have gotten the accurate education about the entire process involving school matters, our responsibilities and what should and shouldn't be. He's a man of truth and character. It's the truth being revealed that's being bucked, Ed is merely the vehicle through which it's being delivered. Anyone proposing to uncover deception by revealing truth, is going to get slammed into a wall, besmirched, ridiculed, called a liar and the such. What's ugly is the audacity of those who think they can get away with manipulating vulnerable residents by making fools out of them as they stroke them with untrue promises. Besides, any good cook knows that stirring the pot of soup always brings the scum to the top and then you scoop it off and out! ;D As for celebrating, we should take advantage of the ADMINISTRATIVE part of the budget increasing DISTRICT MEETINGS by 69.4% from $3,000 to a whopping $43,000! Caviar and champagne must be on the agenda, uh, menu! Does anyone think that most of that 69.4% ADMINISTRATIVE INCREASE could have GONE TO THE CHILDREN? But then how could 37.6% INSTRUCTION under PROGRAMS have been CUT--DECREASED? Or how could 18.6% LIBRARY/AUDIO SVCS. be CUT? ( Take note::::Library svcs for the children cut...sound judgment or irony? Is this a message because someone has something against some in the Plainedge Library?) Instructional money decreased but Bus Maintenance, Sports and Clubs increased 1333.3%, 115.7% and 83.7% respectively! Money went to Programs? Who's fooling who? The greatest conflict comes on the heels of the shouts of misguided victory. The challenge now begins, to set the wrongs right in this community and hold to task those voted in to change the status quo! When the vulnerable and innocent are used to benefit another, the Man upstairs doesn't like ugly and won't tell everyone His plan because many wouldn't believe Him either. The perseverance of those who are of truth will prove out victorious over that which looks to and does deceive but for a time. Where 2 or more steadfast believers of truth put their faith together, they can chase those who deceive, be they 1 or 10,000, into the annals of history! The good fight called TRUTH already began long before May 16, 2006 and will continue until resolved. Until the wolf in sheep's clothing has it's phony locks sheared, it will remain in the midst of the flock!
