As a Plainedge graduate and one that received the benefits of academics and sports I am calling for the removal of the Athletic Director Jamie Labelle.
This administrator failed the district and the children the entire year. From his failure to provide accurate (even to this date) cost estimates for sports, (even AFTER doing a so called line item budget for 2006), to his failure to provide an on the field trainer for our athletes, to his cowering to the superintendent and eliminating prime sports in the middle school and not putting up any type of resistance ( I believe they call that a puppet !!!), to his utter ridiculous comment that Track was an unsafe sport because there were too many athletes and not enough coaches (has it been unsafe the last 20 years?), to his latest slap in the face to the Athletes and all the parents who SAVED HIS SPORTS PROGRAMS, by not providing ANY HELP in the upcoming varsity awards dinner.
This administrator does NOT fit the mold of the way the NEW PLAINEDGE community wants it's administrators to act. He has at every turn tried to stall, confuse and outright block actions of the community to help the athletes.
This is the first step for the NEW PLAINEDGE to show the administration and the BOE that these are OUR CHILDREN, this is OUR DISTRICT, and it is OUR MONEY, and THEY WORK FOR US.
You will soon see a petition demanding the removal of this person. Please consider signing it and lets send ANOTHER VERY STRONG MESSAGE to the administration and the BOE. Although this community rallied to restore Varsity and JV Sports, although this community pressured Albany to deliver more tax money, although this community united in a very special Community Awareness Day, although this community worked TOGETHER to produce a record turnout for the successful May 16th Budget Vote... OUR mission is still not complete. WE demand professionalism and competency in those people EMPLOYED by US and we will take nothing less....THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING......
