Go Plainedge!,
We were not able to make the Board meeting last night, but I think you might want to know,....
Since our names have been tossed around on this Forum and the Community Forum that was censored, it seems that we (ourselves) have created animosity for ourselves in this community by trying to find ways to save the taxpayers money and giving programs back to the children. This animosity has been given to us a few times over the last few months, the latest was last night. Last night 2 of our cars were "Egged", and not even Holloween yet! In August, one of our cars windshields was smashed with what the police said today was a hammer. I didn't report the windshield incident back in august so as not to waste the police's time. They told me I should have. Just to note, the police will be riding the area a lot more now because of this report. It seems that when you try to show how the community can save money, AND give all the services to the kids, there are people in this community that just like the way the money is being spent without the thought of HOW it is being spent. Of course, this latest incident may have just been a "prank", but with a Board meeting last night, what do you think? If you live in this neighborhood watch out for your "neighbors".

I don't know if I would characterize us as being the ones who "created animosity" for ourselves. I guess if we were children, not yet grown up, we might feel insecure enough to think it's our own doing. Now that we're grown up, I think the shoe is on the feet of others who have yet to grow up. And would you say it's the "community" at large that disagrees with us to the point of hatred? I'm sure if we were to go door-to-door and take a survey of the entire community, we would expose the few who are antagonistic. It's not a difficult task to accomplish. As for the police being on notice about the mischief going on, I'm sure the perps will eventually get caught. Afterall, there are cameras just about everywhere these days. Aren't there cameras at the school? When meetings occur, isn't the parking lot under surveillance of some sort, not only by camera, but by Security? With the frightening instances of the extreme number of home invasions, the communities are on heightened alert. Someone will see something one day.

There's something to be said for having inconspicuous video cameras around your house ;D
Sorry to hear about the "hen apples". At the price of eggs these days, it seems like such a waste. This may have been conincidental, although coupled with the window smashing makes for a very interesting case. Unfortunatley no matter where you live there will always be idiots like this.
Just remember, good always prevails in the long run.

Hey Go Plainedge!,
Got to love the sense of humor! Thanks for the laugh.
Yeah, about those cameras, I set up pin hole hidden cameras for a couple of investigator friends of mine. I guess I'll set up 1 or 2 for viewing the neighborhood. They come with motion detection/audio/ remote wireless and in color. All for $99.00 retail. They work great and you can use any old computer to record from them. The cameras themselves are about the size of a quarter. God, I love technology!
Another thought, I have put them in eyeglass cases and hats for my friends, I wonder,... how about Board Meetings? Oh well, just a thought........

What do you mean, our names have been tossed around? What names? Tossed around where?
Thanks.

There were five persons named in a Board meeting by a Board member as being responsible for the Budget not being passed.
The Board member making that statement repeated it and publicly defended it in a local newspaper article. The statement was never retracted - nor was any apology issued.
The blame for the budget defeat was laid at the feet of just five voters: Mr. C, Ms. M, Mr. C, Ms. C, and me - Ed Dowdell.
As I have previously said, I cast but one vote of over four thousand - and it was YES for the budget! Despite the mental midgets that claim they know how I voted, and those intellectually challenged people who believe that lie)
I made up my mind to vote this way after reading the mailer that came on the Saturday after my Petition was filed with the commissioner, and just before the second vote. The mailer changed the amount of Administration cuts planned by the Board in case a Contingency Budget was needed as I had requested be done in my Petition. [/u]
The initial Administration cuts planned were for $0 (ZERO dollars) - the mailer changed this so the required cuts were to be made in Administration - WHICH NOW GAVE $307,000 MORE TO PROGRAMS.
{I still have hope (but no facts) that this was done by the Board when they passed the actual Contingency budget}
On that Saturday I had felt that, by using the proper channels, I had found an effective tool to correct this legally improper lack of Administration cut (Zero dollars) and could go on to change the other mistakes that are also in the Budget.
That caused me to not use the apparent only method we have left to us to get the Board and Administration to ultimately listen to us - pull the NO lever. Since I felt I now had a workable alternative - I voted FOR THE BUDGET as proposed.
I did not then, and still don't want now, to have the Programs for the children reduced.
I do know of other monies in the Administration and Capital portions of the Proposed Budgets that would be better spent if they were in the Program portion of the Budget.
Our proposed Budgets had errors in them that have been dismissed by the Administration as "minor arithmetic errors" - - - in sworn testimony to the Commissioner of Education - - - but not yet to the people of this district.

Concerned,
If you are refering to the egging, yes, that was after Tues. nites meeting.
If you are refering to the windshield, that was during the summer after a few posts on this site and some meetings at the Pizza Cove. The police said I should have notified them. I thought since I don't use that car now I wouldn't press an issue. When the police were here Wed. morning and were looking at my cars, he asked if I noticed my windshield had been hit with a hammer. It was hit directly on top of the registration sticker. (good shot!) I told him that happened back in the summer, that is why he told me I should have reported that also. And that list of names got expanded with references to others on this forum and at other meetings.
But do go to tonights meeting, I have heard it will be interesting.

"just facts"
There were over 2,000 people who were responsible for the budget not being passed, and that was now over 4 months ago. Can we move on please? Let's concentrate on the next budget and get involved in a positive manner on Nov. 14th to make sure it passes.
