I see there is some chat about retiring Pat Lyons #10 Football jersey number.
Pat Lyons, for those interested was a Plainedge graduate that played football in the HS. Pat's life ended on 9/11/2001 while trying to rescue others at the WTC.
It's understood that a BOE member made a promise several years ago to retire that number but was met with opposition by administration.
If you believe this should be done, please contact a BOE member AND an administration member and let them know your desires to have this done.
There is a great golf tournament that takes place every year to benefit the Pat Lyons Foundation. Lots of raffles, 3 great golf courses and tons of fun.

I think it's a great idea. Just a quick suggestion, if there were other former students that lost their lives in 9/11 that were athletes - should they also have their numbers retired. I am not sure if there are more but we should not slight anyone on this.
BTW: was glad to see how well the girl's lacrosse team did this year. I hope we are able to keep all of the sports teams going (now that Labelle is there for life) so that the day comes when those girls can beat Garden City! This program has come a long way in a short period of time. Congratulations to all the other teams that made the playoffs as well.
