Phil,
I think you are right on. Maybe you should re-visit your position on running for the Board in the future.

supportstudents,
Don't you worry John, little does he know it but I've been working my magic incantations on patriot2415. He doesn't stand a chance of NOT running next year!
I have a bunch of "Toscano's" next door to me (not related to Phil) and they are signing him up for everything under the sun! He'll be only too glad to use the excuse next year that "MY Board of Education schedule keeps me to busy to help out! I'm so sorry!
And speaking of being SORRY Phil - next time I see you you are due for 20 lashes - with a wet noodle! Being so right on the mark as to what a Board member should do! How dare you be so qualified?
But you did bring up a new core activity that might be though about very seriously - those "Fireside Chats" with the community. But instead of being hosted by the Administrator with the community - wouldn't they make much more sense if hosted by the BOE with the community?[/i]
This would be a very simple change that the BOE could make this coming year - and then I would see the value of allocating the increased money in the Budget for that activity - rather than the present ego-trip of the Administrator - who usually talks down to the community rather than talks with them!
What say? Can we twist the arm of the Board members to get them to make that change? Do you agree that change is for the better?
Ed.

If PM's are personally sent to me, then I can read them. I do not have access to nor can I read PM's or emails sent to other members.
Your messages are safe and private... ;D

Now that Raymond has only six weeks left on the Board - will the wire-tap issue just melt away? How can such a deliberate act be overlooked? To have the mail mis-directed to another account on the same mail server is one thing - but to have had it directed to another user's home site - ! ! ! And to have received as many of these exchanges as occurred without reporting them is - as classified in the law - a misdemeanor. Whoever gave the orders to make the change and setting this situation up is "one sick dude!" as they say. Their sense of values are extremely warped - totally abnormal. I hope that those on the misdirection and the receiving end are soon no longer part of this District. Let's not let the wire-tapping go unpunished! There was no "innocent error" behind this act! Ed. Oh! - had as much management effort been put into something positive for the children! Maybe they'd be getting more than 70¢ on the dollar in this year's budget!

I agree facts. This issue was swept under the rug. At the last board meeting "jim" was blamed and he no longer works for the district.
I think is is insane that any agreement was made to have this issue go away. It goes to the whole trust issue we have been speaking about.

plainedgewatcherThanks for the added info! Just who, or what, was this "Jim" anyhow? And the issue can't go away with one person leaving the District's employ! That's like saying the criminal moved out of town - so let's forget about his crime! We are all victims of this improper and illegal act. There was a deliberate break in the public trust with that act - and it should not go unpunished. And just who was it that directed Jim to make the tap? And who was it that benefited from the tap? Certainly Jim didn't - unless his role in this was much different from what some would have us to believe! What did Jim profit from this? Who did profit from this? Until the matter is publicly resolved I, for one, will believe that the rerouted messages went to someone who "profited" from an illegal act - and they shared the ill-gotten information with someone who directed that the tap be put in place. There is, at the least, two criminals in our District who should pay for their illegal activities. And the troubling thing is - they're still active and unpunished here in Plainedge! It is up to the Board of Education to pursue this matter! And it owes the community a report of the full details. Don't let it continue as a rumor that is trying to be swept under the rug! The Board owes this to us - and should not rely on the Administration, who so far, is letting it lie fallow - hoping it goes away as an issue. It does seem that someone in the administration is involved - and has no reason to have the facts see the light of day. So Board - it's your job to take action - for the good of the community! And it'll be a good indicator of the Board's integrity! Ed. Are they the same persons who "tap" the dollars that should go to the children? Only 70¢ of the budget dollar gets to the Programs account!

This is what i understand of the situation. Please correct me if I'm wrong.....
ALLEGEDLY: The e-mails between Ralph Raymond and Frank Presuto were re-routed at the School District server to send a blind copy to the home e-mail address of Cathy Flannagan. Becoming concerned that certain of their "conversations" were known in advance at Board meetings, they sent dummy e-mails to each other and found that it was CF who was intercepting their messages. When it became apparent to her that she was discovered, Ms. Flannagan and her ex-detective husband filed a complaint at the 8th Precinct that Ralph was using the North Massapequa Fire Department computers (his permitted normal source of sending e-mails) to send her "harassing" e-mails. This brought the whole topic to the light of day as Ralph protested this uncontested, un-investigated, allegation on his public record.
I believe this activity is covered in depth under Penal Code 250 of NY State. It is a Class E felony to make such an illegal tap. It is a misdemeanor not to report the receipt of these e-mails (there were about 60 of them at the time of "discovery").
If these statements are untrue or are simply rumors, then any and all parties involved should do all they can to clear up their name.

I bringing this back up as it seems to have been "swept under the carpet".
Does anyone have any further information on the email situation as mentioned above?

Further information
As I understand it - during the District meeting on this topic, the situation was tried to be explained away by the Administration as "accidental". That approach was quickly abandoned after expert IT people in the community made it clearly known that such a routing could not be done without intention. The redirected mail went to a home site whose address had to be known to be entered.
The Administration, Richman, reaffirmed that the connection was made on the School District computers - and not accidentally.
There are several people who know greater details about this wire-tapping - but they are not talking, nor are they responding to this site. That's to be expected since this activity violates the Penal Code Laws.
Those that know more details have indicated that Mr. Raymond will continue to pursue this investigation. He will not let this matter drop. We wish him a fruitful pursuit.
Anyone with connections to a newspaper that can get reporters interested in this? It would seem to be a hot topic with what is going on nationally in this arena! "Local School District computer taps Board Members' e-mails" would make a fine headline!
Ed.

goplainedge![/b] What else was there Or, in terms of a realist - "Just wait 'till next year!" Like Fireflys in a summer night - Dawn dims their brightness! And Richman gloats about the success of the efforts he caused to be expended ~ and the number of cars he caused to be washed! Ed. The heck with it! Let 70¢ on the dollar be good enough for the children!

Let 70¢ on the dollar be good enough for the children! [/quote] Ok, it’s been almost exactly 2 weeks since the big day and what could be felt by many to be the culmination of a pretty eventful year.
2 weeks where life continued on.
Communions to attend, graduations to plan, college students to get back home and re-acclimated.
Maybe 2 weeks just to catch a breath.
2 weeks whereby some folks might have felt the need to reacquaint themselves to their families.
The families that might have felt neglected for so long because priorities were different then they are now.
Or, hell…maybe even making our jobs a precedence!!!…
It does not mean the mission has changed, nor the focus lost…just less urgent then they have been since about this same time last year through just 2 weeks ago.
We didn’t play in this cyber-sandbox for the last 2 weeks, sorry…
Again, maybe for some of us, there is a much needed, fresh sense of personal prioritization.
The condition at the present time allows us to do that.
Feel free to crucify.
