I believe he was hired without having the correct license. I also heard that they may be able to delay his tenure from 2 years from when he got his proper certification. The list of things this guy has done and not done over the past years is enough to get anyone else let go from their job. He is never at any sporting events! He comes in late and leaves early! He does not attend meetings that ADs must attend at county level! He does not do the observations he is supposed to do for his staff. He has no regard for the community and rules like a dictator when it comes to field space! There are no evaluations of any coaches - he does not do them. WHAT MORE DOES THERE NEED TO BE TO FIRE HIM! I am sure he has a conflict of interest with his previous businesses. At the very least, the board should be made aware that they should at least hold off his tenure and watch him very closely. We should have been able to keep James Kramner - he seemed to do the right things. BTW: I have this ID because I fear repercussions from John or Jamie for my kids if they knew who I really was. That is why I took ID of formerworker. I have as much at stake as any of you - I just have inside info from others who work there. It's reliable info from those that know how this guy works.

You're welcome, Devils. Documentation and knowing your time constraints for the process, both are lessons.
And, you are right.......the main issue is passing the budget, the FIRST time! We have all learned that we can have power, that we can have a say in events, and, if we speak up in time, we can make a huge difference, no matter the issue. For that, I thank many of you on this board. You have given people the confidence to speak up, and you have shown those who doubted our power that the people really could make a difference.
I think that sometimes people take all we have here for granted...our schools, our community, the atmosphere our children learn in, nice buildings, caring staff, administration (the dreaded "A" word...I know, many of you will say it's most, not all of them), etc., etc., etc. Well, we have all awakened in the past few years! We are very lucky to have all that we do. There are many districts that are not so lucky. While supporting those districts (our fight for better aid laws), and trying to help the less fortunate, we should all fight to preserve what we have.
Go Plainedge...top 10% in the county! Yay!!!

Listen- We ALL need to "multi task" at times.. YES We ALL KNOW the budget is important HOWEVER- getting Labelle out if he is incompetent, unreliable and basically not around and doing what he should for the kids-- IS JUST AS IMPORTANT..
Look- it is very very simple. An e-mail or letter to all the BOE members!!! Letters show your concerns and they are listened to. This by no means deviates from the budget vote and getting it passed. Unfortunately- many decisions are made at this time.. like Packard Picken, tenure placements are here as well.
WE NEED TO LEARN THAT THERE IS NOT JUST ONE IMPORTANT TOPIC GOING ON IN THE DISTRICT. Even though the vote yes is a priority.. Tenure placements and Packard Picken are priority right up there as well.. Don't lose sight of that.. that would be plain foolish and ignorant.

There is a coaches meeting tonight at the High School cafeteria at 8:00 pm for the soccer coaches.
According to the email I received, they will also talk about community issues. Maybe this would be a place to find out more about the role of the AD and if it is being done properly for the kids?
To all This Monday at 8pm in the high school cafeteria we are holding our general board meeting. This is a mandatory meeting for all coaches. Please e-mail all of your team's parents, they are all welcomed to attend. As well as soccer issues we will be discussing some community related issues. Thank you .....xxxxxxx

Well LaBelle must be reading this site. He showed up at the Girls Softball Game at Schwarting yesterday. I hope he looked in the equipment shed, it is not only filthy the equipment is just thrown in there like garbage. It would nice for him to insure our tax dollars for equipment in sports is maintained and kept in good condition. But then again that would mean doing his job and insuring others in his department that are doing theirs.
Please everyone, if you also see the faults in the Athletic Department run by Mr. Labelle contact the BOE and let them know that this man does not deserve tenure. Beleive me if he hasn't shown anything by now, there will be no epiphany or coming around once Richman is gone.

way too little, way too late.
He can't just crank it up on April 23rd when his tenure request is being reviewed in MAY!!!
What a joke!
How many people have seen him enough where they could pick him out of a police lineup... I'm sure not many

It will do no good to try to get Richman to listen- the board and only the board has to be informed. Very often, administrators have gotten tenure because Richman did not want to admit when he had a bad one. Look at the history of the recent administrative hirings at the Middle School and at other positions. He hates to admit he was wrong. Labelle does not deserve to work in our district. The sports programs survive in spite of him. Try to call him 5 times during the day- i guarantee you will never find him in his office 4 of those times. He won't be in the district - where he is is anyone's guess. I have heard he calls in saying he is somewhere but really is not there. But no one checks up on him. Other than the 4 home football games, how many other events does he attend. Where was he when the parents put on an awards night and he refused to help out. As I said before, Richman and Labelle were not happy when the budget failed and the money was raised. They both wanted the message to be sent to the community they had little regard for at the expensee of the kids. They both have nothing but contempt for the community. You would think that Richman would do the right thing and restructure his "going away" benefits since they were given with the understanding that he was going to retire. What he actually did was "better his salary" and position at the communities expense. Richman is gone- his crony Labelle has to go as well. If he gets tenure, you can kiss the athletic program goodbye. He will pick 2 of his favorite sports and say goodbye to all the rest at the various levels. He has tried to do that twice so far. Will he be successful on the third try? Will he be given the chance to be successful? If he leaves Plainedge, no other district will hire this unqualified person. Labelle must go!

Time for Devils Advocate.....I love this game.... ;D
What benefit would it be for LaBelle to do away with all but two sports. How does this help him and what his goals may be?

If i recall, when the budget went down last time, they were all set to give him an extra job of supervising buildings and grounds. He would not have lost his job even if there were no sports. Johnny was protecting him - told you- they are buddies. I don't know if that plan would still happen with the new super.

Tenure was awarded to Mr. Labelle and a number of teachers at the BOE meeting last night.

Does anyone know the actual process for giving tenure?
Does the sup recommend an the BOE approve?
If so ANOTHER instance where they did not listen to the community. I read here the other day ( don't know who posted) that Labelle should be reviewed for another year under a new superintendent to see if he deserves tenure. I agreed with that.
Any other comments?

I can't comment on whether Mr. LaBelle deserved tenure or not. I don't know him and he is not in my educational world right now.
However, I imagine one of two things happened here:
1. The BOE did not receive enough complaints from the community to warrant them not awarding tenure or at the very least holding off.
or
2. They did get numerous complaints and simply didn't listen to the community.
I like to believe #1 took place.
Yes, there were a couple of people here posting their dislike for him. However a couple of people complaining to the BOE doesn't warrant them re-evaluating if they should award him tenure or not.

"Yes, there were a couple of people here posting their dislike for him. However a couple of people complaining to the BOE doesn't warrant them re-evaluating if they should award him tenure or not. "
GO - you are correct. If people were THAT unhappy, they should have been saying something all along. Then, they may have had actual influence. I, too, would tend to believe the #1 scenario took place.
Pedgeneeds: My understanding of the tenure process is that, over the course of the three years, the staff member is observed multiple times by their Department Chairperson, Principal, and the Superintendent. The, all their professional opinions and evaluations are presented to the Board, and the Board is the entity that actually approves or denies tenure.

Girl,
The BOE knew very well that the community was not happy with Labelle. They should have done their homework before approving it... but it's easier to rubber stamp.....
