Not meaning to scare anyone, please share this copy of an email I had received with your children and neighbors!

Two teen-aged Farmingdale girls were accosted and robbed on their way home from the Fair last Friday evening. This took place on a totally residential street in the Allen Park vicinity, only houses down from where one of them lives. Thank goodness that they were set upon before the one girl entered her home, which would have left the other continuing down the block alone to her home. One fears what other crimes could have transpired.
I am issuing this warning because the police told the girls that this type of attack is becoming a more common occurrence in the area. Some young men from a neighboring community are preying on our youngsters as they leave the park area and enter into their own neighborhoods bound for home. No attacks are occurring in the park itself, the criminals lay in wait on the quiet residential streets of the area and strike as opportunity allow.
The police seem to know where the criminals live, and they drove the victims around the neighboring community for the better part of the night. Unfortunately they were unable to locate the perpetrator. Attacks and robberies have taken place during the day as well as the evening.
Parents and kids, PLEASE BE AWARE of your surroundings at ALL times, even on your own block! If something seems wrong and out of place, or that little warning feeling goes off in your stomach, avoid the situation, turn away from the situation and get yourself to safety among people as soon as possible. KIDS, if something seems wrong in your neighborhood tell your parents about it , let them know what is going on so they can contact the police if necessary.
PLEASE AVOID DESERTED SHORTCUTS!!!
A couple of weeks ago a F'dale boy was set upon and attacked by a group of young men and his bike was taken from him as he cut through a deserted area near the park in the middle of the day.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Again, this is not meant to scare anyone, but it is better to be safe than sorry. Farmingdale is part of our district also and some of our kids teams play there too. And if these people are being sought by the police there, it is easy for them to move.
