12/22/2006, 10:00 PM -
The weather is damp, slightly chilly and all around miserable. The weekend holiday rush is in full swing and the rain is coming down quite steadily and hard.
I'm driving home from a Christmas gathering and start to make my way off Route 107 and toward my home. When low and behold what do I see? Flashing lights. My initial reaction was "uh oh, someones tree was on fire and their house was burning". What a terrible thing to have happen.
But NO......I see members of the North Massapequa Fire Department driving through the neighborhood with Santa.....IN THE RAIN!
WOW!, They could have easily chosen not to go out that night because of the weather. They didn't. They could have easily stayed home and kept dry (unless there was a real emergency). They didn't. They still chose to proudly drive Santa through the neighborhood in the rain and cold.
To the NMFD - THANK YOU for your dedication and support of the Plainedge community. That was heart warming sight to see.

To All, a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, and health for the years.
But,... to ALL the members of the Fire Dept.s our family gives you all many thanks and support. Without all of you we would have lost the last few times with my father. You ALL, with your dedication, gave us more time. Unless people go through a hard time, they seem to overlook what others do. I thank EACH and EVERY member for what they sacrifice out of their lives away from THEIR families for what they do for us.
MERRY CHRISTMAS, and HAPPY HOLIDAYS To All!!!
