Hi everyone. My name is Craig Heller. Some of you may remember me from my co-chairmanship of the Plainedge Tax Relief Association with Phil Toscano. Others may remember me from my recent races for State Assembly and Nassau County Legislator.
Tomorrow, December 11, 2007, there is an election!!!!!!!! This election is for South Farmingdale Water Commissioner. I am running in this race because our special districts are like secret societies. The election (which most of you probably didn't even know about) is tomorrow December 11, 2007 between the hours of 4-9 PM at the N. Massapequa Fire House on Broadway.
Most of these elections are uncontested and the Water district has no real oversight. In fact, most of you probably received a newsletter from the Water District this week that has my opponent on the front page with a bio and a statement of support for him. YOU PAID FOR THIS CAMPAIGN AD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My goal as a water commissioner would be to end the transparency of this Water District. I would keep the community informed on everything that was going on. I would ask that all contracts with vendors be done on a bidding process instead of having these contracts go to those that give money to the "correct" political party. I would act as YOUR WATCHDOG!
I hope that I can count on your support Tuesday, December 11, 2007 between the hours of 4-9 PM at the N. Massapequa Fire House on Broadway.
Since many of you attend School Board meetings, the Board has a meeting that night at 8:15 PM. If on your way, you could stop at the Firehouse and vote for me that would be greatly appreciated.

Firstly, thank you formerworker for your kind words. But truthfully it takes people like you to stick by me with the hope that I will win an election one day in the (hopefully) not too distant future.
Second, we were successful in having approx. 1100 people vote in an election that normally has approx. 300 or 400 voters. This is important---the election was given more awareness and hopefully the SFWD will be more transparent over time.
Thirdly, the lawsuit against the SFWD Commissioners is still pending. The plan is to make the Commissioners have to reimburse the district for the use of taxpayer funds for what was in essence a campaign ad. Further, if you read Newsday on Sunday, they highlight that the SFWD Commissioners have paid themselves for attending a golf outing and for going to a water conference in Toronto, Canada.
The campaign may be over, but the fight will go on to insure that the taxpayer monies are being spent properly and thereby keeping our taxes from continuing to rise at an unreasonable rate.
Thanks again to those that supported me during this effort.
Craig Heller
