I agree. Anyone who coaches a team, teaches a band or a chorus, runs a play, is in charge of anything and has a roster, call every member and make sure they VOTE YES. Lets make it a memorable day for Plainedge tom. 5/16.

One song can spark a moment, One flower can wake the dream. One tree can start a forest, One bird can herald spring. One smile begins a friendship, One handclasp lifts a soul. One star can guide a ship at sea, One word can frame the goal One vote can change a nation, One sunbeam lights a room One candle wipes out darkness, One laugh will conquer gloom. One step must start each journey. One word must start each prayer. One hope will raise our spirits, One touch can show you care. One voice can speak with wisdom, One heart can know what's true,
One life can make a difference, You see, it's up to you!
NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER EACH OF US HAVE. ONE VOTE CAN BE THE DIFFERENCE. PLEASE GET OUT AND VOTE YES.

"Never underestimate the power of a small group of committed people to change the world. In fact, it's the only thing that ever has." Margaret Mead I’ll use this quote time and again…. Just think of what this community has accomplished over the past year. There is much more to be done of course. Fitting analogies apply; Rome wasn’t built in a day; It’s not this first drop of water that splits the stone. But just think of the accomplishments !!!!!! The momentum that has been building in a positive direction has developed into a powerful wave a change. Today is the day to make it a TSUNAMI!!! (Prop’s to Ed!! ;D) An overwhelming YES VOTE turnout will be a clear and resounding mandate for change!! It will continue to motivate the populous, heartening US, encouraging US that OUR actions and thoughts are being heard. WE will have the strength of a united community behind OUR demands. And the people in power will have to listen to a united, organized “group of committed people” that are ready to change Plainedge.PLEASE VOTE YES FOR OUR CHILDREN PLEASE VOTE YES FOR US PLEASE VOTE YES FOR THE BRIGHTLY LIT, ENPOWERED FUTURE OF PLAINEDGE!!

I was there at 9:00 am. Despite the weather, it looked like a steady flow of voters arriving.
I won't be able to be at the final count tonight, but if someone is there, can you post the outcome of the budget and BOE members on this site tonight?
I will check in late tonight or early tomorrow morning for the outcome.

goplainedge!Barring any misfortune, I'll be there tonight for the count and I'll post the results here as soon as possible. (I do want to find out how those forgotten levers are pulled - you know, the ones on the Library Budget spending increase of 3.34%)Does anyone else observe how Richman, a non-resident that has no role in this voting process, always attends our vote meeting and not those of his home District? That "Hired Hand" often wants to run the show! And Patriot - what's all this about fighting and dogs? Are you implying our open and fair voting process might be tainted by vested interests that are fighting dirty against us? Lordy, lordy no! They wouldn't tell lies and outright distortions of truth to confuse John Q. Public - - - would they? How else could they retain their important powers to do right as they see fit? They MUST twist and lie to ensure that they, the almighty, continue to control the District - even if they have to resort to "white" lies! Lies, like a $300 check to one's home would be deducted from one's tax bill? Lies, like it's going to cost $495,000 for interest on a TAN - and ignoring (for our own benefit - naturally!) that there is offsetting interest earned on the money while in the District's possession? Interest that could be used to reduce the Capital portion of the District costs - allowing the same tax money to be applied to Programs. How else can these well meaning and skilled money managers keep our money in the Capital portion of the Budget unless they do that? That keeps that portion of the money from being wasted on the children! And it adds to the glory of a ever larger Encumbered Fund Balance ($4 plus Million by now - nearer to $5 Million!)They wouldn't do all these nasty things - would they? Dogs fight fairer! Vote - and vote for our right to control the Board - not theirs! Ed. Make sure we get a Board that keeps the money out of Capital and into Programs. 70¢ on the dollar is not a fair share for the Children!

Just,
I was not referring to any wrong doing..sorry, I know that is one of you favorite topics !!!!!
It's just a phrase I use in sports and it translates perfectly into what Plainedge has become. We are not the biggest dog in the fight there are other districts bigger, but we have the BIGGEST fight in us ( biggest heart/determination). We can do anything, if we put our minds and energies toward a common goal! Knowing that, I see a very strong future for our community.

Are you implying that the people who run the counting - Most of which are senior citizens like yourself) that they would allow wrong doings iduring an election.

To answer your question No!
Your question seemed more rhetorical because of the introduction of the age of the people that are counting and the introduction of the question of their integrity = plus lack of a punctuation mark. My statements were not intended to stir up anything that could turn ugly because it did not segregate anything into age groups - thus causing a division or fractionalization in the community.
My statement just addressed the fact that is not in the Superintendent's list of responsibilities to participate in the vote counting process. Those that are responsible for tallying the final counts are well defined by the State Education Department's rules. It was a reminder of that fact - not a charge against irresponsible actions by anyone else - as you seemed to infer on your own.
And my statement also noted that the past practice by the District in the tally process was done "in camera" in an isolated and blocked off area of the Gym out of the view of the public. Not in an open fashion in full view of those remaining to find out the final results.
That is a true statement about the methods of the past - even to the revisiting of certain Voting machines that were counted and locked, by the Superintendent. That occurred two year's ago and can be verified by others than myself. It is a fact about an improper action.
Please don't try to make my quiet notice about improper procedures of past vote tallys anything more than it is -a quiet reminder that proper procedures should be known and should be followed in this coming vote tally!
Ed.
P.S. Posting a response to a post under the original post is sufficient - No need to duplicate it under other Threads - that is - unless you have other reasons to do so!
