Friday night at Farmingdale High School's Pep Rally, a car drove by with a few people in it and shot at the Security Gaurds car. This was while the kids were there. The Homecoming Party for Saturday night was cancelled.
I have looked at Channel 12 news and Newsday and have yet to see anything published.
Maybe because this is a time for voting that the news is NOT being reported. This is a VERY DANGEROUS situation for Farmingdale and ALL the area schools.
Why residents are not informed right away is a question we should all be asking our representatives, and what are they going to do about it.
We get the reports when they have meetings and smile and shake hands, but how many of you have heard about the attacks on children, and this latest shooting? This is not a "New"problem. One of my children had gone to Farmingdale HS and 10 years ago they caught people selling guns in the woods by the HS.
Ask ALL the people running what they are GOING to do and when it will be done. On second thought, don't ask,... DEMAND.
Long Island is the "Cash Cow" of the State. We should all be asking Town, County, and State Oficials to stop this now. This shooting will only lead to more...............

I first heard about the shooting while I was at my friends house and her daughter came home from the Pep Rally and told us. She said everyone was very scared. Then late that night I checked my email and I had recieved mail from my son's Boy Scout Troop Leader from Farmingdale. His daughter had come home and told him the same story and he is actively calling all the officials he can. He is a long time resident of Farmingdale and well known in the community. We also heard repeats of the same nature at church on Sunday. It seems unless you talk to someone that was there you would be left unaware.

Thanks to elphaba65 for locating this story's publication (finally!) on the deep back pages of Tuesday's Newsday (page A30) ~ ~ ~ About a local event that happened Friday and first reported on this Forum by Techie, hours after it occurred on Friday!
After you finish reading the story ask yourself: Did it deserve to be buried in an innocuous area of the inside pages of Newsday while the Front Page story covered the loss of MTV privileges at a local college?
Why didn't it make the headlines on Saturday?, Sunday?, Monday?, TODAY?
How come the "perps" go out of their car and came towards the School guard firing their guns? What did the guard do then? Where the police summonded? When?
Why wasn't there an "all out" by Nassau/Suffolk police? What's the result of the "crime scene" investigation? Any bullets/shell casings recovered?
Why didn't the reporter note that the "INTERSECTION" was at the corner of the school property? That's so close to the school that it was worth noting!
Who were the students the group was arguing with? Have any come forward?
Maybe it's time to ask Newsday these questions! (The reporter was Michael Frazier)========================================================================= FARMINGDALE
Group wanted for attacking guard.
Nassau police are looking for a group of attackers who shot a security guard's car after he followed them from a South Farmingdale High School pep rally.
No one was injured in the shooting that occurred Friday at about 7:45 p.m. near the intersection of Lincoln Street and Intervale Avenue, police said.
Shortly after the football pep rally, the guard drove up to the group after he saw them arguing with students.
As the guard approached, the group split up, got into three cars and drove off campus.
The guard, whose name wasn't released, followed them until they stopped at the intersection. The guard told police that the attackers got out of their cars and ran toward him before he heard gunshots. He was uninjured. It remained unclear yesterday whether the group of men were students. ========================================================================= Just what in blazes is so important to the Police, the local Politicians and Newsday that they believe a story like this can be "buried" from the public? It took a small group of local citizens to bring it to our attention - where it deserves to be amplified upon and called upon to be investigated and pushed to its highest level of awareness to "DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS" - or you don't get my VOTE! Remember, the "perps" actually came back and fired at the guard's car! Will it be you next?
