I was wondering why no one has respond to the mom who posted at 7:24 this morning regarding the middle school threat. Is this factual or rumor. If anyone has heard anything or has any other info regarding this it must be discussed immediately. I have heard the MS sweeps alot under the rug, but if this is true we must find out. If anyone out there has an eighth grader please respond. Thank you.

It was all a big hoax. One statement led to another. It was thoughly investigated by the school and found to be nothing. I was at the MS tonight and the principal made the announcement. Also, all MS students had a note sent home today from the principal explaining the circumstances. Nothing to worry about.

The following is a letter to all Parents/Guardians from Dr. Hannon- This letter was sent home with each student today. Dear Parents and Guardians,
You may be aware of a rumor that circulated among students yesterday regarding a student and a hit list. It turned out that the comment was made at a sports practice in the context of a class discussion on school violence that had ensued during that day. When questioned, the student indicated that he did not have a list and that he realized even saying so was very serious and very upsetting to others. No list was found, nor did the student ever specifically mention any names of any students or any plan of action. When anything like this is reported, however, we must take it very seriously, and we must act accordingly to ensure the safety and well being of all the members of the school community. I assure you that we did so. Unfortunately, many rumors circulated that were not true and were upsetting to students.
Ms. Puleo, Mr. Mannino, and I spoke with the students this morning to field any questions they had, to allay their concerns, and to talk with them about the importance of reporting whatever they hear and being very careful about whatever they say.
Please know that the physical and psychological safety of your children is our primary concern.
Mary C. Hannon
Principal

Looks to me like nothing was "swept under the rug"..
Kudos for Dr. Hannon for speaking with all the students in school today! My daughter was very relieved when she came in. She too heard the rumors circulating. Glad that the school took it seriously.
