A couple months ago - I think we were wondering why central office had to create a new job- in charge of buildings and grounds. That job had been eliminated years ago and suddenly it has reappeared. They promoted Mr. Diriso - a math teacher who certainly must have little knowledge in whatever one needs to know about buildings and grounds! With all of our volunteers taking care of the fields- why do we need to add extra administrative positions? I have the answer as to why we need this man in this position. Has anyone been to the high school lately? I counted 17 or 18 speed bumps surrounding the grounds of the school. Try driving around the school and see what it does to your car. We probably have a world record of speed bumps for the amount of ground covered. I guess Mr. Diriso needed to justify his new position with this great idea. A buildings and grounds position is one that could be effectively shared by districts. Remember, the more money we spend on these positions, the more we cannot spend on our kids. We passed the budget but we still need to curb reckless spending.

Aside from the question of whether or not we needed this new position, etc., and I have my serious doubts, too...
Those speed bumps are THE BEST things that's been done over there in years! I have been picking up and dropping kids off at the HS every day for years, and I still have a few years left to do this. Yes, the bumps are very annoying, but anyone who is there at the beginning and the end of each school day would see that they can literally be a lifesaver. I cannot tell you how many times I have witnessed speeding, reckless driving, etc...and not only from the kids! Drive slowly, and you will not hurt your car. More importantly, no people will be hurt, either.

A couple of questions for those that may know,...
IF, this Math Teacher has been moved to a administrative position of buildings and Grounds,.. then they are no longer in our employ as a TEACHER, (correct?). I would assume this would have to be a "FULL Time" position to make it warranted. If they are not a teacher any more, then ALL benefits and UNION gifts should also stop. ALL VACATION, SICK DAYS, MEDICAL, and again, MEDICAL Benefits should STOP. If they have changed to an Administrative position,... a NEW employment contract should have been written and approved by our BOE. Jus' askin',.. I thought we were trying to save money to spend it on the "Kids".

Everyone makes their deal with the devil.
Do you really think this person gave up their benefits?
