Congrats to our neighbors for raising a record amount of money for their sports and clubs. They really were able to accomplish this in a record amount of time. I wonder what their secret was. It took us much more time - but we both accomplished the same result. The sad part I feel is that districts continue to see this occur and they might see this as a permanent way to fund sports and clubs - and they will now vote no as a result. Congrats to Wantagh!

funny how districts with budget issues are still finding the funds to put down those million dollar turf fields for the very sports they end up fund-raising for-

Hey everyone, I extend a compassionate congratulations as well to our Wantagh neighbors. As of the latest posting (9/11/08) from their website (http://www.wantaghbudget.com/), the Wantagh SOS has raised $550,097 towards their goal…Good for them!!!! For the record, The PPAC raised thisclose to the same amount of funds (towards the ultimate goal of $573,000) in actuality, a less amount of time…you see, we did not know at the time of the second budget failure on June 20th 2005, if we were even allowed to fundraise, ....and had to wait to July 1st, 2005 to receive, in writing, permission from the district to fundraise…. then the actual organizing and the requisite legalities had to be finalized to accept funds…. Uuuggghhhh, I really don’t want to remember…..as for Wantaghs “secret”…..besides the somewhat bigger commercial pools to dive into….perhaps they learned a lot from what we did …..and it could very well have to do with this bit of data taken from 2000 U.S. Census data, (adjusted for inflation): Median Household Income: In Plainedge $84,028 Median Household Income in Wantagh $104,371 Regardless, go get’em Wantagh…..hoping you reach your goal tomorrow…..
