Debra Grieci is running for the Board Of Education as a write in candidate.
Our community needs an individual on the Board that is an advocate for the entire community, representing residents with children attending our schools as well as those without. We, as a School District, must make living in Plainedge affordable to all residents while maintaining our quality of life.
Debra has been in the district since 1999 with a long career of community service. She was the PTA President at Schwarting Elementary and the Plainedge Middle School, she spent time on the PTA Executive council, she chaired many committees and is an active member of the Plainedge Quarterback Club and Mat Power organization.
Debra's has worked 23 years in the financial industry, she is a Vice President in Human Capital Management. She has experience developing budgets through a bottom's up process.
Some of her immediate goals are to look at long term solutions to stabilize our tax levy, ensure our schools are safe, hold administration accountable for student outcomes. She cares about the kids in this community and wants to see them all be very successful.
ELECT DEBRA GRIECI TO WORK FOR YOU!

As a mother to 3 children that are still in Plainedge schools - I just thought I would chime in. I am sure that Debra Grieci is a nice person and her flyer sure sounds impressive - however to have Pat Zinke and Cathy Flanagan walking around handing out flyers for her does not make me comfortable with her. How can she claim to be an advocate for the entire community when she is of the same mindest of those 2 current BOE members ? If these are the people she is going to associate herself with - we will just be heading back to the horror days of Ryder, Karageorgas, and the rest of that dusfunctional board , which are the reasons why the Plainedge residents are still paying medical insurance for Richman. Funny how that doesn't come up . Or the fact that one of those BOE members has a daughter employed by the district (might I also add that she was hired when she was on the board) Seem convenient - I agree. WAKE UP PLAINEDGE - WE DID THE AUSTERITY DANCE BEFORE !!!! If you are going to write someone in - write Anne Weeks? Or maybe Ralph Raymond? Heck - I would even go so far as to write in Nancy Giris - at least we know what she is about. And we would not get blindsided by more BS. Signed ENOUGH IS ENOUGH !!!!!

Couldn't agree more andigirl! The last thing this district needs is someone else who has been schmoozed by Mrs. Flanagan and Mrs. Zinke under the guise of helping her out while all along following their own agenda as usual. As you say, Ryder, Karageorges and our current BOE pres. and vp are about as phony as they come and I would be more than wary of any candidate who hangs their hat on their help or associates with them. Really!? A BOE Pres. who doesn't even support the district budget? Disgusting! Blatant lack of character judgement in my eyes. More concerning is the fact that Ms. Greici quit the PTA Council when her actions were questioned. As a BOE member, she will be questioned constantly and would quitting be her reaction? We certainly don't need someone who will quit on our kids because the going gets tough. We had finally started to clean out the old puppets of John Richman in BOE members like Nancy Giris, Doug Pascarella, Mary Lowe and Dennis Gustafson who don't follow blindly along. Hopefully next year 2 more seats can be turned over and our Board can finally be comprised mostly of members who can leave their personal agendas at the door and who are brave enough to speak their mind. In the meantime, I am hoping that Mrs. Giris will see the poor candidate choices that the district is currently faced with and reconsider serving one more term. If anyone can sustain grace under fire and hold her ground it is her. I TOO WILL WRITE in NANCY GIRIS tomorrow.

I can't disagree about the current BOE VP. From the very beginning, I always felt she (sadly) was using this position to try and increase her social status in the community. Remember, she's a "Richman student"
As for a write-in...NO WAY! If they were TRULY interested in running and serving the community they would have thrown their hat in the ring at the appropriate time.

I think that if you were all so concerned, you should have cared enough to run for the BOE yourselves!!!!!! Everyone has so much to say, but doesn't step up to the plate. Typical P-Town, trying feverishly to destroy someones character because they were too weak to face the music themselves and obviously are hiding under the PTA auspices thinking they are someone "special" themselves. Yeah.. right.. Be thankful that someone of excellent character, like Debra has actually DONE more than enough for our kids over the years and cared enough, whether it be at the last minute or not, to step up to the plate. There is no hidden agenda here people who like to make up stories. This is better then "Desperate Housewives". TRUTH: There was a vacancy because Nancy decided she wanted off. Why vote her back in if she wants off?? Weird, but whatever.. Debra has proved herself more than enough times with everything she has done for the kids. Leave her alone people.

Mythree... I don't know Debra so I can't comment on her character or the type of person she is. However, I have to say it does (on the surface) appear to be suspicious that she only decided to run after learning that no one else would be running against her. It would seem that if she really believed in the BOE and that she could help, she would have started her campaign much sooner. Was she pushed into running because the Pres and VP (allegedly, friends of hers) knew there wouldn't be anyone else running and with their help she could get elected? Maybe...Maybe not. I don't know her or what the truth is, but the sequence of events (on the surface) are questionable. Additionally, I strongly disagree with your comment that because no one else decided to step up to the plate that they shouldn't voice their opinion? One has nothing to do with the other. Yes, I agree! This town is just like Desperate Housewives.....I think more than you may realize and with people you may not even suspect.
