Hi Im new to this board and it is oh so interesting. I would like to know if anyone else has heard the rumor that 2 of our nurses are leaving the district? If this is true, have replacements been found or are the remaining nurses going to have to be stretched further than they already are?

Hi TheMom Welcome! I haven't heard anything yet. Are they leaving on their own or were they dismissed? What schools are they from?

The nurses are from Schwarting & Eastplain, I think 1 is going elsewhere and truthfully I cant blame her because they have to cover not only their school, the middle school, the high school & Maria Regina & the 2nd is retiring. I have approached Mr. Mallow in the past about the nursing situation but I am not even going to go there.

Thanks for the info mom.
I can say I'm surprised. As you said, they are splitting their time and I'm sure its not the idea situation for them. So they decided to do what was best for themselves.
I'm sorry to see Ms. Axler go - if indeed she is leaving us.

TheMom...FYI:
Dear Parents:
Dorothy Axler, our school nurse, will be leaving her position on February 28th at Eastplain to embark on a new career in the medical field. While we regret to have her leave, we are happy for her new opportunity and wish her well.
We are fortunate to have a wonderful replacement for Mrs. Axler (pending Board approval on February 16th). Denise LaBelle, current school nurse at Maria Regina, will be transferring to our school prior to Mrs. Axler's departure giving her ample time to acclimate herself and become more familiar with our building. Mrs. LaBelle is an experienced school nurse and will be an asset to our building.
Sincerely,
Emily S. O'Brien Principal

Ok..This is where I get confused! The current school nurse from Maria Regina is transferring to Eastplain I am guessing that she was only part time over there because the Plainedge nurses were told that they had to put time in at Maria Regina. No difference I guess, at least they have a nurse!

I assume that this means the Eastplain nurse becomes fulltime???
I guess we may find out tonight.
