Ed - Have you had contact with Mr. Cimino? I would agree that if we could enlist the services of Mr. Cimino in our efforts, that might prove to be invaluable in getting this budget passed.
Any feedback would be appreciated

Devils, I agree 100% with your last two lines. I can not understand the first 3 lines as that is a swathe of information. Vote YES for the Kids of the Plainedge Community and give them much needed CPR.

Did anyone attend last night's meeting? Did the budget get ratified by the BOE without alteration? Last night was my anniversary and my wife had a problem with me attending the meeting....The nerve of her....If anyone has some insight it would be appreciated.

gopybl ~ Happy Anniversary! Now; just how many? Mike Cimino has the following e-mail address; mcimino@optonline.net You an make reference to the discussons he and I had about his network of "Get out the Vote" volunteers. As to when/where for drivers for pick-up: I guess there are far better persons in the District to organize and arrange that than what I can do. My circle is too limited. At the least the Churches and Synagogs can announce and promote the Dates/Times of pick ups for Registration - and their parking lots serve as the points of pick up. The times should be somewhere around 10 am - a one shot deal on two or three key days should suffice. The Senior Center on Hicksville Road near Chappies is a focal point as well as the Center on Albany Avenue. Although that one is technically in Farmingdale, many Plainedge residents use it. The North end of the District, past Hempstead Turnpike is a vital one for enabling many to get down to the High School for registration - Although why the BOE doesn't empower the Middle School to accept registrations is beyond me. Maybe the best "pick-up idea" is to make the district, via BOE action, to open up the Middle School for such activities - it's a no-brainer as far as I'm concerned! The day of the Vote itself can be promoted at the same places and a plan should be in place to make that more of a day-long event with morning, noon and evening pickups. On a side note: Cacophoney: loud, harsh and discordent sounds such as traffic and street noises - a meaningless mixture of sounds - hoots, cackles and wails ~ or those sounds that use to prevail at BOE meetings! Ed. ;D Vote you convictions! - Not your Frustrations! ;D Cantatore ~ Presuto ~ Raymond! The cool team that makes the BOE work!

Hello Facts, I know I was reaching with cacophony. It was late. I was stretching discordant to divergent. I probably would have been more correct with syncopated rythmn, but that didn't fit with CPR. Gotta have some fun, I'll try harder next time.

Many know Mike. I think it'd be best if you contact him directly, then things can proceed, or not, more quickly. He's an "old codger" like me, and somewhat of a windbag like myself, but he is able and capable and with his younger daughter, has more of an outreach into the present community than I do. You can hit it off and start to work pretty quickly. Do you have any insight to share on the two additional candidates I just read about? They seem to be keeping much of their "running" pretty quiet. That's very unusual - except if they're both members of some specialized group that hopes to "sweep" themselves in because of their large membership. Which is not a very good sign! That's the last thing we need now - a "loaded" Board! Diversity of view and outlooks in all directions - not a pointed viewpoint - is what will keep the BOE on line with the broad needs of this community. Congratulations on 9 years! Well past the proverbial "seven year itch"! My wife and I almost made it to 51 years - fell just 1 week shy of that when she passed on two years ago. Ed. Cantatore ~ Presuto ~ Raymond ! The cool team that already has changed the BOE - for the better! ;D Vote your Convictions - Not your Frustrations! ;D Hey! Non-voter you're right! Your vote doesn't count - normally! But this year is different[/b] - your vote is needed! We get free ice cream for every vote over the 6242 houses in the District!

I believe someone informed me that one of the possible other candidate is one of the women that is part of the Eastplain PTA.
If this is true, I don't know too much about her, her capabilities, background or knowledge. I also, can't remember her name... ;D
By the way...gopybl - congrats on 9 years!

As stated earlier we will need every vote, May 16 seems far away but it will be here fast. We need every soccer mom and baseball dad ( or vice versa ) to adjust the carpool or practice to allow for 15 minutes voting time. If it means McD's or pizza that night please try and make the arrangements. Last year was funereal, kids crying, parents frustrated and to be honest a BOE that was bewildered. We all stood there in the gym and said "How could this happen?" ........Don't answer; it was rhetorical. The important thing was that it brought the needed sense of urgency and compromise. No one student is more important than another, no one group could stand alone. We can begin May 16 to stand in the forefront, as we have done so all year, to pass a fair and reasonable budget that is a reflection of a community's willingness to compromise. A community looking forward. It begins by passing the budget not with a simple majority, although I'll take that, but a resounding majority. A vote of confidence in the community to voice and respect each others' opinions and a BOE that will respond to the community and keep the community informed on the issues and either present creative solutions or who will listen when creative solutions are presented. We are all talking the happy talk right now. The BOE listened; now its put up or shut up. Lets continue to put up. We have all year. Talk to your nieghbors, parents, siblings. We learned last year Political Science 101; every vote counts. If you haven't registered : do so. Its you're child. If you didn't vote: get out there. It's your child. At the end of the day these people will be part of the face of our country: lets get back to giving them the tools they will need. ITS ABOUT THE KIDS! ITS ABOUT TIME! AND THE TIME IS NOW! VOTE YES! CPR On a side note : Thanks Facts I'll try to keep it coming.
