The Legislative Budget and School District Aid.As you may know, Newsday reported that Gov. Pataki said he would veto the Legislative increases in School District Aid, among other things in the Legislative Budget.I spoke with Senator Kemp Hannon yesterday morning and he filled me in on the latest state of affairs. An agreement was reached between the Legislators and Pataki that the State Aid to School Districts would not, repeat, not be vetoed! This is also true for the Construction Aid bill for Libraries.[/b] So we will receive about $950,000 more in State Aid this year than what the Governor had initially proposed. The occasion for talking with Senator Hannon was a photo-shoot at the Plainedge Library for the new front reception desk that replaced the aged 40 year old desk. As with much on the replacement of other 40 year old items that have been done so far, this was all done with Grant money applied for by our Director. No Property tax money from residents has been used so far to replace our aging equipment.Ed Cantatore ~ Presuto ~ Raymond ! The cool team that is making the BOE work for the community! Vote for no other!
