It's hard to tell exactly how many people are reading this site because the numbers sometimes change in a way that doeesn't make sense. I could look at one message, get out of it, and get back into it and then the number reflects a change of 4 viewers. But, it's safe to assume a number of people are reading these messages.
As a result, can each of us try to make a point of reporting what we hear/learn about Tuesday's meeting and the upcoming meeting on Thursday. I believe Tuesday's meeting is a work session and Thursday is open to the community - which means we can ask some questions.
Thanks!

There is a calendar feature on this board that lists all of the board meetings. I also have listed new September and October events that the community should know about.
The Calendar link is located just below the Message Board title at the top of the page.

Concerned,
Sometimes the apparently random number jump occurs because we automatically "refresh the Board" when we write in something or when we change topics.
Or, as you did, you got out of a message and then back into it. This often will refresh your Internet connection to the site and give you the latest updated information, which will stay that way for the rest of that "snapshot" session.
When we first go to a site or topic, we get a snapshot in time of the Board's statistics, which get refreshed every time we jump back into it.
If no one else is on the Board (rare case) the number would increment by just one. However, if there were two or three other readers between the time we first loaded the topic, read it, and then changed to another subject on the same topic, the statistics will jump to reflect the new total number.
Try this, leave the master page on and check the number of "Guests" listed. After a few minutes, or a half hour or so, click on the "REFRESH" button on the top tool-bar of your browser. As the page is refreshed, you may see the "Guests" number jump just like the number of viewers jumped.
I hope that explains what's going on with the jumping number of views.

Dear Concerned,
For your information the meeting dates as well as a lot of other useful information is on our school calendar. By the end of last year all the meeting information and this year's school calendar was on the Plainedge School website. I am looking forward to the return of that site for all accurate school information. If you read the site last year it announced our test results as soon as they were able to post it. I would also suggest signing up for Dr. Richman's e-mail list, I have found this to be very informative.

Thanks for the suggestion(s). I've heard people have really appreciated Dr. Richman's instant group e-mail messages. I have also heard people wish he'd send out an update about what the status is of the web pages. His first message went out saying it was down several weeks ago and I've heard there haven't been any updates on it since then.

Elpha: Great idea! Hope you get an answer. I still haven't gotten an answer to my email asking what happened to the JUNE 29 REVOTE BANNER that Rich-man said was ordered from the sign company yet never put up (across Hicksville Rd) to notify the public of the new date as the original one had been. I also asked if the school district had been refunded the money for a banner never used. You might like to add that in with your question... Thnx

elphaba65 and concerned,
Please clue me in. Now that the plainedgeschools.org site is off the 'net, how does one go about registering to be on the Schools e-mail list?
Please, if you have an e-mail contact that is still valid, please share it with the rest of us.
rinx also made a note about using the e-mails to get to teachers, but gave the off-line plainedgeschools.org link.
Oh!, by the way elphaba65, I was at a library board meeting a couple of months ago and the Director gave a valid answer to your question about "Vote No" signs at the library. There were both Yes Vote and No Vote signs posted by unauthorized persons. The Director toured the building and the Bulletin Board on a half-hour daily basis to remove them. She said that such signs were not allowed to be posted (either for or against) in a public building. It violated some sort of fairness law. All such signs were removed by her on a regular basis. I hope that helps.

Just:
The email still works. I received an email from Dr. Richman yesterday about an award the HS Magazine received.
My guess is that the system is still running but the website pages (the index page and others) have been removed. When you go to a website, the browser automatically looks for the index.htm page (or default.htm). If it can't find it will either give you an error page or time out (depending on the site).
Email will still work.

Go Plainedge is correct about the index page. However, the district probably has a seperate email server. Just because a particular website is down doesn't preclude that the email server is no longer functioning.

I got the same email as I subscribed months ago. I'm not so computer savvy as some of the others here so can you explain how you can have a separate email addy with the same url addy? jrichman@plainedgeschools.orgHow does that work? It doesn't literally come from the .org addy? When you say a "separate server", is that a separate computer where the emails are sent from and received and stored? Please explain the difference between the email feature working and the site down. Thanks! OK, OK, Justfacts, I've called off the bloodhounds. ;D
