Although there was a huge amount of information to digest from last nights board meeting, the bit of news that was the hardest to digest, and is still giving me indigestion, is that Rich Mallow is looking for signatures for his petition so he can run for re-election.
THIS MAN WAS AT THE HELM OF THE BOARD IN ITS DARKEST HOUR!!!!
THIS MAN WAS AT THE HELM WHEN HIS BOARD CONSTRUCTED A BUDGET (TWICE!!!) THAT WAS DEEMED UNACCEPTABLE TO THE COMMUNITY!!!!!
Harry Truman said the buck stops here.
Mr. Mallow, the buck stops with you for last years budget fiasco.
Do not subject this community to another term and your track record of failure.
This community needs CHANGE!!! With the anti-board, anti superintendent sentiment prevalent in the community, the budget (whatever the increase) will be DOOMED if Mr. Mallow (and his possible running mates) are the face of the future that's presenting it.
This Wild Rover says "no, nay, never" to another term for Mallow and HIS team!

Does Mallow have it in for Felice? It seems strange that he is now considering this after Felice announced he candidacy.
Didn't he step down from the presidency at one point in time? Why would he want to continue.?
Maybe like Frank Presuto, Rich Mallow will come on here and state his intentions.
I agree. More Mallow = more trouble

Wild Rover, I can't agree with you enough. You would think that after his last debacle with the Firefighters that he would bow out gracefully. I am quite sure that Felice has most of that board concerned. I think by making the change we will send a very clear message to the entire BOE that this is our Community and they need to be our spokesperson. Also, realizing that our Superintendant reports to them...not the other way around. Good Riddance.

Hey Go-Pedge, I think , just maybe.........WE have them on their toes!!
You asking Mr. Mallow to respond here just as Mr. Presuto did was perfect. It will separate the men from the boys.
And PYBL, I agree, I think Felice worries them...He is definitely not just another shill and is fully in line with the stand up thinking and personalities of Mr. Raymond and Mr. Presuto. He represents the change we need.
I am changing my tag line:

I agree it's about change. Has everyone forgotten that Mr. Raymond is part of the board that UNANIMOUSLY put the same budget up twice last year?
Talk change, then talk three new faces that are not aligned to anyone currently sitting on the board.

E, Hey, at least he fought the power. He questioned the figures, was basically "black balled" because of it and fought the good fight.
Ralph, at the very least, had the gumption to stand up for and take a unpopular stand.
And did so un-waveringly!!!
Alot more than could be said for the rest of them.
At minimum, it was clear he profoundly felt the pain that the community did. At least you came away with the feeling he got "IT"
My point is, he was no shill for the superintendent, as so many others could be accurately portrayed.

W,
Sorry, his time to question the budget was at the budget meetings, BEFORE the budget was placed to the voters. After that, the fact that he stood up for the "sports" people means nothing. Mr. Raymond is a politician and will say whatever he has to to get votes.
If you attended the three budget workshops as I did last year, you know Mr. Raymond had the same opportunity as the other Board members to question the numbers. which aside from the amount for oil he did not. There were many questions by the other board members who searched for the hard answers regarding the cost in the programs.
We need a Board who will act before, not after. We need a Board that will keep EDUCATION it's top priority, we are after all a SCHOOL DISTRICT.

Especially the "Genius" (sarcasm) that signed THAT stupid contract a few years back!

Out of curiosity, anyone know what the vote was to renew Richmans contract? Was it another 7 - 0 vote?

Rinx, I believe that it's up for consideration every May. If the board doesn't make a decision in May then it will be an automatic one year extension.
Nice contract, huh?

"the fact that he stood up for the "sports" people means nothing"Really Don't make this a "sports" vs. "non -sports" thing............Please......he took his stand for A GROUP OF CONCERNED PARENTS AND THEIR CHILDREN We all know that this is a "SCHOOL DISTRICT" and it is insulting to insinuate that getting a top flight education for OUR children is not OUR priority as a community. The fact that Mr. Raymond took a very unpopular stand was the point. The fact that in taking that stand, Mr. Raymond, IMO, proved he is no shill for the superintendent, as so many others could be accurately portrayed, was the point. And the thought of another term of Mr. Mallow, or worse, some previous shill board members considering a return was unacceptable,... was the point Mr. Presuto, by having the gumption to address the community via this message board also says something positive about him as a possible worthy candidate. The other board members avoid this site as if it were a leper colony. Go Plainedge, You got it. I'll change it!!!!( you could be in advertising, it's very catchy!!!) ITS ABOUT THE KIDS, ITS ABOUT CHANGE, ITS ABOUT TIME!!!!

Elpha:
It's no secret that you don't care for Ralph Raymond. That's your opinion and you're certainly entitled to it.
However, I have to agree that RR is the only one that appears to really question anything when it comes to the items the Administration puts forth.

The B's ~ Board, Budgets and Bitchin's ~ have predominated a few of the past posts.Yes, ONE community member has thrown his hat in the ring for the Mallow Board position. No other has stood up to be counted. And TWO community members have chosen to run for their existing seats. One is a fresh face "fill-in" for a former member and the other is a former member. I'm personally familiar with all three ~ and each seems to be well capable of working with the other to overcome the "Clique " that did control BOE operations in the past, giving us a newer and fairer balance power behind BOE decisions. There is no denying that several BOE actions were tightly controlled by a smaller group of "chummy persons" within the Board - and that with Dick gone and Mallow an unlikely returnee in an unwinnable position, the balance of power will be more openly distributed on the new board.[/b] The fact remains that the election of these three BOE members will affect next year's activities and not this year's budget. Concentration of effort must remain on this year's budget. We must keep activity high and pressure on the present Administration and BOE to stop giving us the Budget "junk" that has been done in the past few year's and they must get down to giving us a Budget that meets the requirements of the State Education Department. That budget should be clear, concise, accurate and easy to understand and use by John Q. Public. With that, it should be a budget that doesn't contain threats and innuendos about punishment to the children's programs if we don't pass it. It should be a real Budget that gives the most increases to the children's programs and the minimum to non-educational increases. They've fattened themselves enough for the past few years. Despite what the children in the District say, this is not a poor District but a District which has in the past used its budget money poorly.[/i] Let us all work in our own way to change that this year - and with the help of new Board members make that a fact of life for the future years. That's the end of my third B ~ bitchin' And, sorry about this you wicked witch of the west, elphaba (aka - BOE apologist) - it does look like the BOE will have CPR performed on it this year! Cantatore, Presuto, Raymond! That's just the sort of CPR that's needed by this BOE.Ed.
