P-13,
Thanks so much for pointing out that the long awaited for information was finally made available.
Also thank you for your even toned and professional suggestions.
Lets take some inventory.
Since the start of the budget formulation process, there was an enormous increase in community involvement at the school board meetings and workshops and participating in the course of action that led to this fair and reasonable budget.
Those present at the BOE meeting when the budget was ratified gave it a rousing round of applause. They (veteran attendees and newly involved residents alike) recognized that they were part of the process and were so very proud of the fact.
Those present (especially the BOE members I hope) recognized that moment as a
possible turning point for Plainedge.
A
possible turning point, different from past years where only a couple dozen hardy souls and stalwart residents tried, many times in vain, to make the necessary impact on BOE decisions.
This year, the administration had to be accountable not only to those brave and steadfast veterans but to a standing room only crowd of newly engaged and energized residents that recognized the importance of their involvement. One “veteran” actually said, “I felt like the cavalry arrived”.
This is not pointed out for backslapping purposes, but to depict the fact there is a new energy in P-Town, an invigorated residency, galvanized in the belief that their participation can
possibly effect change.
They have seen it done.
Change is the word!!
Change on how business is done in this district!!
Change that can and will start on May 17th. !!
That invigoration, that momentum, the feeling of “nothing can stop us now” will bring about that change for US.
The fuel that will continue to power the “change brigade” will be the YES VOTE!!
It will show those newly involved residents that were part of the process of formulating this fair and reasonable budget and positively utilized their energies, that they can, in fact, effect change.
It will demonstrate their involvement did, can and will make a difference.
A
possible turning point!!!
The one thing I think WE all agree on is that the way business matters are done down on Wyngate Drive have to CHANGE!
The sooner the better.
Let the new era of Change begin with a YES VOTE on May 16th.
That YES VOTE will absolutely keep the newly engaged residency motivated and only further their determination to be better informed with regards to our districts workings.
And certainly more inspired to "step up to the plate" (a baseball analogy for you, gopybl) and continue to be involved on a regular basis.
Which will once again bring me to a favorite quotation:
“Never underestimate the power of a few committed people to change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”Margret MeadWE will change Plainedge for the better; for the now and for the future.
VOTE YES FOR OUR CHILDREN
VOTE YES FOR THE BRIGHTLY LIT FUTURE OF PLAINEDGE
VOTE YES FOR CHANGE.
BREATHE NEW LIFE INTO PLAINEDGE.
WE KNOW HOW TO DO THAT..
