THe text of the email from the District:
have received several phone calls regarding the protocol around campaigning in our schools.
Upon consultation with our attorneys, I have been advised to provide the following guidelines:
• NO CAMPAIGNING ON SCHOOL GROUNDS OR IN THE BUILDINGS;
• THE SIDEWALKS ARE CONSIDERED “PUBLIC ACCESS” AND ARE OUT OF OUR DOMAIN; BUT, ACTIONS THAT OCCUR ON THE SIDE WALKS CAN NOT IMPEDE ARRIVAL, DISMISSAL OR CREATE ANY DISRUPTIONS TO THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESSES.
• RESIDENTS CAN WEAR “BUTTONS” OR “BADGES” THAT ARE “POLITICAL” IN NATURE IN THE BUILDINGS AND/OR TO MEETINGS; EMPLOYEES OF THE DISTRICT SHOULD NOT BE WEARING ANYTHING BUT A GENERAL STATEMENT, (I.E.”VOTE”)
• NO SIGNS OR POSTERS CAN BE BROUGHT INTO ANY DISTRICT MEETING
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I thank you in advance for ensuring a positive campaign for all parties.

Og’s,
The sidewalk is in fact "public domain" for demonstration purposes and public information dissemination.
Over-simplifing things for the sake of not boring folks to death with public assembly law, almost any and all strikes, picket lines or demonstrations can be conducted on the sidewalk in front of the location being targeted by said information givers.
There are common sense provisions to this, (blocking access, taunting threateningly, etc, etc, etc). This info I have garnered from being in the middle of negotiating conditions of some doozies of demonstrations in my career.
That being said:
[glow=red,2,300]THIS[/glow] BUDGET MUST PASS!!
PERIOD …AMEN.!!!!!
I will ask this of US all once again:
I ask, plead and beg of you to put aside all partisan issues for the next 12 Days…………12 Days is all people…12 Days!!!!!…
12 Days till WE choose if the Plainedge school district goes on austerity for a second time in as many years.
12 Days till to decide if our vote will positively or negatively impact OUR children of Plainedge.
12 Days till WE decide on how to best affect change on OUR school Board.
12 Days to "Hammer" home the importance of VOTE YES!!!
12 Days folks, 12 Days
VOTE YES FOR OUR KIDS!!!!! VOTE YES FOR THE BRIGHT FUTURE OF PLAINEDGE!!!!

I did not have the opportunity to attend the PYBL's meet the candidate night this past Monday, but have heard some of the candidates' comments.
From what I have been told, Mr. Fox declared that the community should raise $1M annually to support the sports programs. As one of the parents who helped with this past year's effort to raise half that amount, I will reiterate what I have said on numerous occasions - it cannot be done again. period. I do not know if Mr. Fox was involved with last year's efforts or not, but if he was, he would know the incredible amount of time and effort, and some luck, that went into raising that money.
I am disappointed in that comment, as I feel the candidates should be focusing on how to provide more programs for the children within the budget constraints. Cuts should be made from areas that do not hurt the kids.
Please remember that next Thursday the 11th is the last day to register to vote on the budget! The district clerk will be at the school board meeting that night as well to register residents.

Good evening 13, I hate uncorroborated information that is based on "what I've been told". In the interest of fairness can you supply further evidence supporting the statement attributed to Mr. Fox? I'm sure that a number of people would like the opportunity to address Mr. Fox on his alleged( at this time ) statement, and challenge him. I agree absolutely that last summer's efforts cannot be duplicated or replicated. My fingers' are also still wrinkled.
The COMMUNITY has been focused on passing the budget the first time out. The budget is fair and reasonable. It was reached by a concensus of the COMMUNITY and the BOE. The programs in the budget are what WE can afford, as a District, at this time.
PASS THE BUDGET FIRST! The Community will have the opportunity to question, poke and prod the candidates from tonight till May 16. As the Rover in all his eloquence states: VOTE YES! VOTE FOR THE KIDS!
Lets just get this done. There is ample time between then and now to sort out the candidates; PASS THE BUDGET FIRST!

Devils,
It has been substantiated by people who were at the meeting that Mr Fox did indeed make that statement.
You and Rover are correct - the budget MUST be passed on the first vote in order to bring stability back to this community.
But the election of new BOE members is as important, if not more, because they will have a longer term impact on the district. For a candidate to stand up and state "that with the right coordination it can be done" is pie in the sky. I have polled committee heads of PPAC, who washed more cars than we care to think about, and no one saw Mr Fox there. If the fundrasing of $1M is so easy, why didn't he help the kids last year?
The key is to vote YES on the budget, and put people on the board who you feel will best serve the children of this district.

Everyone....Lets take a deep breath here. Let me elaborate on Mr. Fox's presentation for the PYBL board....Mr. Fox gave us a brief history of his employment and his various positions he has held in the Human Resource field. Mr. Fox mentioned that he saved 1 million dollars in health insurance premiums for the Loews Corporation. He will be switching employers immedaitely following the election...I forget the corporation but it is also in the Human Resource field.
Mr. Fox said that one of his ideas was to start a fundraising program with a target of 1 million dollars so we can bring back all programs. He also mentioned that whatever money was left over we could have the Board of Directors use them to either bring back or spend on programs as they deem fit. Mr. Fox also stated that he felt his business experience would help the Administration find creative ways to save money.
Pedge13 - I don't think he meant this as any sign of disrespect for the work that the PPAC and the Children did this summer. I am sure you are correct, he didn't participate in the fundraising activities so he doesn't realize that it would be impossible to do again....I am sure we all have an opinion regarding this ....but like rover and devils are saying we have only 12 days left to put our partisan opinions to the side....12 more days..

Go - You must be kidding me....I thought that Mr. Fox was a financial guy....Your telling me he is an HR person? That explains his laise fair attitude toward fundraising for 1 million dollars....My heart broke everytime I went past John H West last summer....
But I will not elaborate....I will follow Mr. Rover's suggestion to put aside my partisan beliefs for 12 days....even if the idea is off the wall...12 days , 12 days, 12 days....

Ogden & Go & Devils & Rover,
I agree that the partisan beliefs over the BUDGET need to be set aside and the budget needs to pass on the first vote.
But the selection of a BOE is also important and the community needs to hear what the candidates are saying.
And Ogden - it was the contribution of people such as yourself at West all summer and fall that gave the high school student athletes the opportunity to participate in inter-scholastic sports this year.

This is the first I am hearing of this and it will take every bit of restraint I have in my body not to comment further on Mr. Fox's reported suggestion.
That specific topic just hits way too close to home.
I will have to hear it from his own mouth before I break my own edict.
I cannot state any more clearly that I am using every single ounce of restraint I have to stay focused on our most important message:
THIS BUDGET MUST PASS-GET THE YES VOTE OUT!!!
I modified my original, lets use the term "passionate", posting after a short period of reflection. It does not mean that both barrels are not fully loaded if what I hear is consistent with what I read here.
Og's......I know!!!..It is sooo hard trying to do the right thing...I HAVE to keep repeating...12 days, 12 days, 12 days......lol
VOTE YES FOR OUR KIDS!!!!! VOTE YES FOR THE BRIGHT FUTURE OF PLAINEDGE!!!!

People - People - PeopleYou seem to be forgetting a major thing. It is a mistake many often make! There isn't one set of levers inside the voting booth; ones that allow you pull the NO one so you can send a message to the BOE & Administration! There is a set on the Budget - And pulling the YES one sends the amount of Budget money into the District for the Children - Pulling the NO one may start the whole shenanigans all over again!
Then there is the set of SIX levers - pulling the right three levers can get us a new BOE that will finally respond to the Community and operate with authority to the Administration. Pulling the wrong three will give us at least another year of the same-old-same-old. Or they might give us a new horror - someone who has a more cavalier attitude towards money than even Richman has![/i] The latter choice could have a worse impact - it could be the final straw to many community activists that have tried to get the system fixed at its source - the non-functional BOE. They may say - "You want the status quo? Well, you can keep it - Goodbye!" Let's get the right three levers pulled - and remember- they are not linked to the YES-NO levers! But they are as important!Ed. Now is the time to make tomorrow's budget better - better for the children.
Select a BOE that will start us on that path!

All, If MR. Fox did indeed bring up such a ridiculous idea, he should withdraw now and save everyone's time.
PASS THIS BUDGET:
THEN WE WILL DEAL WITH CUTS THAT DO NOT IMPACT THE KIDS
